OUR HISTORY
We are one church with a variety of worship services in multiple locations. We are a diverse family of believers who recognize that everyone has fallen short of the glory of God. We celebrate the salvation we have received through Jesus Christ, God’s only son, and look to share this Good News with the world around us (see Matthew 28:18-20).
First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro was founded in 1885. We are a legacy church that has a long, rich history. And more importantly, we are a part of the worldwide body of believers in Jesus Christ. We offer several worship opportunities every week including traditional, contemporary, and Spanish. Our traditional worship service is on Sunday at 11:00 in the Sanctuary. Contemporary worship services are also on Sundays at 8:30, 9:45, and 11:11 in Wesley Hall. The Spanish service takes place at 3:00 pm on Sundays.
Worship is a vital part of what we do here at First Church, but it’s not the only thing. We have been blessed to have thriving and growing children and youth ministries. We offer programs for kids ages birth to 6th grade every Sunday morning and Wednesday night. And our youth group, First Youth, meet at 6pm on Wednesday nights. If your family includes children or teenagers, we think you’ll love what First Church has to offer.
Our motto is “Putting Jesus First in Our Lives.” This is not just a catchy phrase, but a reminder of who we should prioritize in everything we do, whether we’ve been long-time believers or are still searching. We’d love to meet you and share more about why we feel so strongly about the love of Jesus Christ.
